My first internship experience during college was in Daytona Beach, Florida during the summer after my sophomore year. Throughout the summer I worked as part of a team of fifteen interns to accomplish all of the necessary tasks of a minor league baseball organization. Each day in the office consisted of making cold calls for ticket and sponsorship sales and offering customer support whenever needed. My responsibilities around the ballpark included operating the manual scoreboard, controlling the in-game music, managing game-day employees in the concession stands and ticket booths, and running the group event picnic areas.
In addition to all I learned while working at the stadium, I grew-up during that summer. The internship was unpaid, so I learned how to live on very little money and free ballpark food. There were many tough 14 hour days, but I wouldn't trade the summer in Daytona for anything. I worked with some pretty great and hard working people, and I am truly grateful for my time with the D-Cubs.
